Today I’ve placed my little desk top flag in front of me to write this enlightened Americana expression. I feel American today. I feel Star Spangle Bannerish. I feel like singing the National Anthem. I feel like blowing off a few fireworks and writing my name in the sky with a sparkler. I feel like grilling a few steaks and having a few beers. I feel like walking in a parade today. I feel like wearing a flag shirt and pants and a flag hat, but since I don’t have any of these patriotic fashions I’ve decided to wear my Superman tee shirt and a pair of cutoffs. What’s more American than that? Superman is an All American hero, even if he is an alien from another planet.

Today is the 4th of July, 2008. Today is a day to invite all friendly aliens to join the great American birthday party. So if you happen to spot a UFO today just know that they are here because I invited them. Be friendly to them and welcome them and know that I invited them to the party. Just remember that they will be looking at you as strangely as you will be looking at them, and they might even look like some of your relatives. But don’t worry , they only came for the party. If you have a Superman tee shirt you might want to put it on today or a tee shirt of some other great American super hero, aliens get a kick out that. Or if you are feeling really American today like I am , but you don’t have a flag shirt or Super hero tee shirt, put on an old tee shirt and put your own initials on it in big letters and consider yourself as a great American hero. Today every American citizen who takes pride in celebrating his or her country’s birthday is an American Hero.
