Maybe It Wasn’t Entirely Coach Caroll’s Fault

patriots win super bowlIt was a hell of a Super Bowl, but the last play was a bad break for Seattle.  Many comments by arm chair Quarterbacks  appear to be blaming Coach Caroll for the bad play but, it seemed to me to be a bad call by the Quarter Back Russel Wilson, who had the final decision to go with the pass play. It was a really great defensive play by Malcolm Butler and the Patriot’s Defense.  The following quote is what Russel Wilson the Sea Hawk’s Quarterback said in a post game interview with the Seattle Times about the last play that cost the Sea Hawks the Super Bowl.

Post-game quotes from Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson

Here’s everything that Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson had to say after the Super Bowl tonight: (on the interception at the end of the game) “The last play we had a formation where we could throw it on them. (Ricardo) Lockette was coming underneath, and the guy made a great play. That’s really what it comes down to – the guy just made a great play. I think it was (Malcolm) Butler who made the catch, I’m not sure. I had a chance, was looking, and then he kind of cut in front of it and made a play. I thought it was a touchdown, honestly. Unfortunate situation, man. We played lights out for the most part. We fought so hard. You’ve got to give the Patriots credit. Tom (Brady) made some great plays out there, and he was clutch at the end of the game. I thought we were going to be clutch at the end of the game, too, right there at the end, and it comes down to that last play.”….
That’s the way the Super Bowl cookie crumbled for the Sea Hawks and their fans last night . Tom Brady proved he is the top Quarterback ever in the NFL. That has got to be a great crown to wear !   I admit I’m a Patriots Fan but, regardless of my bias I don’t think anyone who watched the game could doubt the Patriots and Sea Hawks played a great game. I watched the game on television and felt I got my money’s worth, I ‘m not sure the people who paid $10,000 for a ticket did, especially if they were Sea Hawk Fans.  By the end of the first half I was worried the Patriots blew it, but after the LSD inspired Half Time Show by Katy Perry , the Patriots hustled back to a victory.
This was the 49th Super Bowl I have seen and it may have been one of he best but, I’ve seen many other great ones too. I remember several really great, bone crushing, nail biting Super Bowl games.  I hope to see the 50th and more. I hope the great American and NFL tradition will continue for many generations to come, and isn’t ended or further tarnished by more national scandals.
