A writer and artist always expect something will inspire him.
Sometimes it is the small things that interest me and sometimes it’s major issues, but most times it is a fleeting thought I capture a part of, that will set my imagination on fire. I imagine a color and shape and size and image and sound and feel and wonder what it would say if it could speak, or where it would go if it could walk or run or fly.
Expecting something to come from nothing, or to come from something other than what I was expecting is always the puzzle I am presented when I seek inspiration. I often fly into fantasies and look for mind paintings or whispering words of rhymes and rhythms, that
paint themselves upon paper or screen or view finder. Somethings happen that are totally unexpected and become the answer to the question of what will inspire me today, or this minute. Something is
always available except we may not be opened to expecting it. I expect everything, nothing and something. By doing this whatever I plan or whatever happens might inspire me.
