Obama’s Oil Spill Speech

OBAMA’S OIL SPILL SPEECH
6/16/10

Obama finally got enough pressure on him to do something and say something about the Gulf Oil Spill. G.W. Bush did little about Katrina and took five days to make a public speech to the American people. It took Obama 59 days to respond nationally to this “Mother of all Oil Spills.’ Maybe I’m a cynic, but for a President of the United States and his entire administration, and Congress to take 59 days to publicly respond to the greatest man made environmental disaster in history, makes G.W. Bush look like he did a “Heck of a job” responding to Katrina.

I hate to admit that the absolute incompetence of G.W.Bush’s response to Katrina, seems almost acceptable, next to Obama’s seeming ignorance and indifference to the worst environmental disaster in American history. 5 days for Katrina’s Presidential response, and 59 days for Obama’s response to the BP oil spill. Katrina was a regional disaster, the Oil Spill is a national and soon to be an international disaster. No amount of monitored words will ever explain away Obama’s neglect of this national disaster.

BP will be destroyed as will the Gulf Coast. How many years it will take for the clean up still is not known , nor is the cost of the clean up and any hope for the restoration of lost industries, lost beaches, and lost oceans. In some way I have sympathy for Obama, trying to lead the U.S out of the nightmare G.W.Bush created, however Obama appears to have been sleep walking through the nightmare, and has just woken up.
